Q. What is the TwinGeekz Artz Project?

bullet

A. TwinGeekz is a loose affiliation of loose affiliates in New Hampshire who began the TwinGeekz Artz Project challenge in May of 2005; the task was for each of the original seven participants to produce and submit a piece of art every week for one year. Every artist succeeded in completing their 52 pieces of art, and thus the TGAP theory was proven: "all creativity needs is a deadline".

Q. Can I become a Geek, too?

bullet

A. If you're crazy enough to want to join us, then we're just crazy enough to let you!  We are currently engaged in an Artz Project, and unless you're willing to make up all those weeks you've missed, you may want to think about settling for Guest Artist status this time around, and then plan to join us when the next Project begins.  For more on Guest Artistz, check out our "Guest Gallery" page.

Q. What are the requirements for becoming a Geek?

bullet

A. It doesn't take much, really.  The biggie: you must commit to producing and uploading a piece of art a week for fifty-two weeks.  Other than that, the rest is pretty minor.  You email the Geekmaster to express your interest, and we ask you to donate $5 to defray the cost of the website, etc.  It's $5 for the year, not a monthly fee or anything ridiculous like that.  Contact the Geekmaster to find out how to donate, and to make alternate arrangements if necessary.

Because we are already well into this year's project, there is one other requirement for joining now: you would have to make up all the weeks we've already completed, all in one fell swoop.  And if you're willing to do that, they you are definitely Geek material!  Contact the Geekmaster and find out what you'll need to do.

Q. How will I know when we're starting?

bullet

A. All Geekz who have expressed their interest by emailing the Geekmaster will be sent an email with details about when a project is beginning.  TGAP 3 began in April 2011, so another project won't begin until some time after May of 2012, and we don't have a definite date yet.  If you don't receive notice, then either A) you're not on the participant mailing list and need to tell the Geekmaster or B) it went to your junk mail and you need to add geekmasterz@hotmail.com to your "safe" list.  Remember, anyone can join the mailing list at the site; even if you've joined that, if you haven't emailed the Geekmaster directly to join the project then you will not be on the Geekmaster's mailing list of participants.

Q. What if I want to participate, but can't commit to a piece every week?

bullet

A. The whole point, of course, is to force ourselves to create a piece every week.  That having been said, we have had "Guest Artistz" in the past TGAPs, and if you would like to participate in that capacity please contact the Geekmaster to discuss what your commitment will be.

Q. Will there be a reference section for Geekz, in case everything the Geekmaster tells us at the beginning dribbles out our ears?

bullet

A. There will be a password-protected area of the site for Geekz, and Geekz alone.  It will include all the vital information on uploading submissions, resources for artistic inspiration, and other nifty goodies.  Sign-in information for the resource page will be sent via email once the Geekmaster has received your "letter of intent" and your $5 donation.

Q. What will I get for completing the project?

bullet

A. The satisfaction of a job well done and the praise and gratitude of your fellow Geekz.  What?  That's not enough?  Well, there likely will be a wrap-up event of some kind, and whether you completed all 52 weeks or not you are cordially invited to attend, as are your friends and family.  You can read an article about our TGAP 1 wrap-up at the "Origins of TGAP" page. Details on the TGAP 3 event will become available toward the end of the project.

Q. You haven't answered my question; now what do I do?

bullet

A. Forgive us our transgression, and email the Geekmaster.  Common questions will get common answers and then be added to this FAQ; the unusual ones will probably elicit unusual answers.  That seems only fair.
